Coppell’s Quaint Old Town is a Darling DFW Day Trip

Hidden amongst the DFW city giants is a quaint pocket of perfectly manicured homes of varying calm colors and designs. These homes line the block of a plaza complete with a Saturday Farmers Market, open playing field and a kids playground. The most recent addition is the coming-soon Arts Center that is currently under construction and slated for completion in 2020.

The cozy Texas town of Coppell came as quite the surprise as it’s often overshadowed by the surrounding urban meccas. Walking into Old Town Coppell with zero expectations meant there was nowhere to go but up. Unbeknownst to me, I quickly realized that this up and coming Texas town should be on your DFW to do list - like ASAP.

George’s Coffee + Provisions

George’s was the true reason for the trip. Only ten minutes from Grapevine, this Coppell coffeeshop has been taking names across social. From its perfectly peaceful farmhouse aesthetic to the bright and airy shared spaces, George’s Coffee + Provisions quickly became my new favorite freelance spot. A picket fence lines the lawn with a vine-tangled awning to welcome you. Window boxes are stuffed with succulents and country chic rooms are even available starting at a mere $25 per hour. All and all, George’s alone was worth the trip - but it gets better.

Coppell Farmer’s Market

Scoot up to Coppell on a Saturday for the weekly farmer’s market on the Old Town square. From 8am-noon, rain or shine, this sweet, homegrown market calls the Old Town home.

Let It Shine Boutique

This posh little boutique popped up out of nowhere as I turn into Old Town. A staple on the square, Let It Shine Boutique boasts “clothing lines for every generation.” While falling on the slightly more upscale end, the store was chock-full of women’s accessories, stocking stuffer gifts, and Show Me Your Mumu seasonal styles. The owner and store manager were sweet as can be, thankful for new faces passing through.

Twisted Root Burger

This locally grown chain now calls Coppell home, situated across the street from the Chamber of Commerce. The prime real estate is perfect for lunch or dinner - or maybe just a mid-day milkshake, because, why not? Twisted Root is always a consistent burger choice so it’s hard to image that the Coppell location would be any different.

Frost Cupcakery

Ready for a little afternoon treat? This sweet corner cupcakery - a word I didn’t even know existed until I hit Coppell - sits right across the street from George’s Coffee. Grab a sweet treat and take it over to George’s to go with your caffeine or just enjoy the bakery’s sweetness.

Hard Eight BBQ

If meat’s more your thing, it’ll be hard to pass up Hard Eight seeing as the smell from the smoker is wafting throughout the neighborhood. A stone’s throw from the Old Town square, Hard Eight BBQ is a family owned Texas business with a handful of locations across DFW.
